Westport Capital Partners, along with two co-investors, has purchased Goodwin Square, in downtown Hartford, for $17.6 million. The buyer, a local investment firm, plans to renovate the office tower and hotel. The renovations to the office building will include updates to the common areas and atrium. The building sold approximately 50% occupied. The buyer has no specific plans for the Goodwin Hotel, which has been closed since 2008. Options may include the conversion of the hotel rooms to apartments.
The Goodwin Square complex contains a 30-story office building, and a hotel. The office building is comprised of 330,000 square feet, with an eight-story, 302 car, garage. The building was built in 1989. The Goodwin Hotel contains 124 rooms, and approximately 110,000 square feet of space. The hotel was completed in 1989, and is built beneath a facade which was constructed in 1881.
